The 903 Classic
Fifteen gentlemen.
Fifteen friends. Fifteen grievances. Drafted into pairs and let loose at Legacy Ridge for two days of organized betrayal.
Team A
Team B
Teams are set by the captains' draft on Day 1 morning. Day 2 teams are randomly drawn the morning of.
Two days. One trophy.
A modified Ryder Cup. Pairs play pairs. Holes won become points. Ties earn the satisfaction of having tied — nothing more.
- Points are scored when a pair wins a hole — not the entire match.
- Ties do not add to score.
- Winner determined by total holes won across all five pairings.
- Scoring is updated live but hidden from the field until the end of the round.
- Day 1 winners advance directly to the playoff.
- Day 1 losers tee off first — a 9-hole 2v2 scramble / alt-shot wildcard.
- The best wildcard pair keeps their score and re-enters the playoff alongside the winners.
- Eliminated pairs may keep playing, and are encouraged to caddy or ball-spot for the field.
Live results revealed at end of round.
A governing body — committee of players, AI, or Alex — oversees non-standard situations and holds the deciding vote on disputes. Maximum impartiality required.
1 club length of free relief when a ball is touching cart path, sitting in a puddle, or touching lawn equipment (sprinkler heads, etc.).
If a ball goes out of bounds and is found, players may play it where it lies without penalty. Moving the ball in any direction adds a stroke.
Alternatively, invoke Model Local Rule E-5: two strokes to place the ball on the fairway laterally from the point it crossed out of bounds.
Mark your fucking ball. Every stroke counts. No free retries, breakfast balls, or unsanctioned mulligans.
Pairs are highly encouraged to keep track of the opposing pair's score to combat cheating. This system works great if you aren't an asshole.
Each pair is allowed 1 sanctioned mulligan per day — only one team member shoots, choose wisely. Mulligan usage must be clearly announced so the opposing pair and as much of the field as possible can hear it. Usage is documented at time of call.
Additional mulligans may be purchased from the oversight committee. Prices scale as follows:
The achiever buys a beer or shot for the entire field. A case is perfectly acceptable, and historically encouraged.
Maintain pace of play. Don't waste time looking for lost balls — you know that shit is in the water.
Trash talk is welcome. Cart paths are obligatory where indicated. Shirts are obligatory in the clubhouse. Tucking is not.
Losing teams are encouraged — but not required — to caddy and ball spot for winning teams during the second half of Day 2. Caddy assignments TBD.
Tipping caddies is highly encouraged, but not required — this ain't communism.
Legacy Ridge.
A North Texas track above the Red River. Two contrasting nines — one winding through river-bottom ponds, the other lined with towering oaks.
Legacy Ridge
Bentgrass greens, Bermuda fairways, and the kind of summer wind that swears it'll die down by noon. It will not.
Two days.
A working order of operations. Subject to weather, lightning, and the lingering effects of Sunday evening.
Champions past.
A short list. It will get longer.
